Man, it's always Sol Badguy isn't it?

A trip to a bookstore somehow feels like a trip to a toy shop, I must be getting old. The story is I went to KLCC a few days back and browse thru kewl weaboo books. Too bad stuffs aren’t as cheap as KFC’s Set A. First bookshelf that I raped is the japanese music section. Among the cool stuff are Macross F complete score book, Final Fantasy guitar arrange and series of Jigoku guitar technique lesson. Though the score doesn’t really catch my eyes since their not on my loot item list. Proceeding to the artbook section, the felt of guilt struck me as I saw the books that I illegally downloaded. Though, most of the artbooks are copy pasta of the respective artist previous works so it’s important to know what’s inside since it’s a hundred bucks on the line. There’s lots of books I kinda drooled on but I want to highlight this book here Artworks of Guilty Gear X 2000-2007.

Before Sengoku GARsara, the image of manly blue and red was these guys.

The front cover features an exclusive Sol Badguy picture, drawn by Daisuke Ishiwatari himself. The guy is on my hit-list, for being such as good song composer and a good drawing artist at that. I can babble all I want about guilty gear here but I sucks at fighting game so I accidentally my argument. FYI the book features all the previous guilty gear in game artworks. Though there is another exclusive book pic, and it’s a drawing of May.

Daisuke in person explains how the process goes. The million dollar face.

Sketch finalisation and pre-coloring process

Base coloring process. No digital work implemented?

Shading process and his awesome face.

Clean sketch

Final product.

May with her child bearing arse in focus, if only she weren’t too annoying in the game. I realized that most veteran artist like Range Murata do use traditional method instead of digital method. Maybe I shouldn’t be too hooked on digital drawing or it’ll stop my brain growth. Book’s worth your penny if you didn’t bought any of the previous GGX books before.
